services - learning

R-AHEC helps students connect with preceptors in rural areas who offer learning opportunities, allowing students to train in and experience the diversity of these communities. In promoting such partnerships, it is hoped that the graduating student will consider future rural practice.

Training - Current Available Programs

R-AHEC has housing sites in Hornell, Warsaw, and Westfield for our health professional students.  Due to rising costs funding for these sites must be maintained through college contributions, innovative rural programming opportunities, private foundation funding and/or public sector contributions, grants, fundraising events, private pay, etc.  At present several colleges are contributing to continue housing for their students.

Effective June 1, 2010 there is a charge of $100.00 per week to students who are from a non-contributing school.  Students that are from contributing schools will continue to have free access to these rural housing sites when they need to perform clinical hours in those respective areas.

Accommodations are currently located in Hornell, Warsaw, and Westfield.  All houses can hold three or more students in double occupancy rooms.  Space in these houses is available on a first-come basis.  Click on Location Map to identify available housing sites.
