R-AHEC offers a decentralized housing support program where we provide housing support for health professions students who are completing rural community-based clinical rotations in medically underserved areas of our twelve county catchment: Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Steuben, Wayne, Wyoming, and Yates. Our decentralized housing support program is not meant to serve as or replace a student’s permanent residence, but rather to make community-based clinical education more accessible.
R-AHEC reviews applications taking into account a variety of factors (date of application, length of stay, co-ed status, and school affiliation) and notifies the student as soon as possible. The typical requests takes about 4 weeks to process.
While we are not able to meet every housing request scholarship and the demand for student housing continues to grow, R-AHEC will do its best to work with each student and provide housing support and assistance as funds are available.
