Providing Unique Learning/Shadowing Experiences

The PULSE Academy is designed to maintain and enhance interest in healthcare professions in high school students by providing direct experience and local networking opportunities with various healthcare professionals.

  • The Academy begins with a series of classroom presentations designed to introduce students to healthcare professions as well as highlight career paths and training requirements. The presentations will be held during regular school hours in collaboration with participating teachers.
  • The second component of the PULSE Academy is to offer healthcare career exploration tours with secondary level education institutions.
  • The third and final phase is job shadowing opportunities intended to expand student understanding of healthcare workforce opportunities.

The PULSE Academy is funded through the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo William F. Thiel Grant and is designed to foster interest in healthcare employment and encourage students to pursue local opportunities as future Wyoming County healthcare professionals.
